Digitalization of culture

Digitalization has opened up a new scenario for culture, allowing the development of new business models, artistic formats and dissemination spaces, as well as attracting new audiences.

In the context of the recovery, the digital transformation and boosting of culture will make it possible to address this sector’s structural challenges, which has been severely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. This transformation will be undertaken through three lines of action:

  • The digitalization of major cultural services.
  • The digital transition of the cultural industry.
  • Improving the regulatory framework.

The digitalization of major cultural services will be carried out by addressing the digitalization of major museums, archive systems, historical heritage registers and the state public library service.

The digital transition of the cultural industry will be carried out through different projects and reforms that, in addition to incorporating new technologies in the different cultural industries, will also contribute to the adaptation of management entities to the digital environment.

To enhance the artistic value chain in the digital sphere, the regulatory framework will be improved by adapting copyright to the digital environment.
